  • My server has just made a new and much better discussion list available to its subscribers, so I'm moving the Ancient Rome discussion list. Anyone subscribed to the other list should re-subscribe at:

http://www.i-claudius.com/mailman/listinfo/iclaudiuslist.

If you don't do this you will not remain subscribed. This change will not affect those who are subscribed to the email update list. That will stay the same.

The Roman Gallery link on the galleries page will now go to the new Roman Gallery. I need to do a lot of work on this, but at least it's functioning.

  • The new Bibliotheca, my online bookstore and personal reading list, is now up and running.

March 6, 2005:

I-CLAUDIUS.COM GETS A MAJOR UPDATE!

After several years of sitting on my Roman haunches, I've decided to give I-CLAUDIUS.COM a new face. The index, home page and supporting portal pages have been updated. At the moment, most of the content remains the same, but I'm working on several new galleries and articles to put up in the coming months. By the summer, I-CLAUDIUS.COM will look quite different and my hope is that it will be more fun to come in and look around. This site has been a hobby for me for the past nine years. It is on a commercial server, but I have no products to sell, only a desire to catalog a legacy of my interests and personal growth as an amateur artist, writer, and historian.

Some notes about the galleries: There are two separate links for Roman and Ars Nova Galleries but they go to the same page. In the future these will be separate galleries. The nude gallery is for Romans over 18. Though nothing more than nudity is depicted therein and the images are much tamer than those one would see in the Naples Museum's Secret Cabinet, It is still slightly beyond the default Puritan esthetic of Uncle Sam and therefore parental control is advised. The nude gallery will expand very soon, so keep a lookout.

The Bibliotheca, my online reading list and bookstore and a holdover from my old site on Geocities, was a mess. I am in the process of revamping the page and have a few books up and running now. You can see the progress on it here. For now the homepage link goes to the old site because there are more books there.

Many of the bells and whistles have been removed from the site. The message board and guest book became repositories for spam. The chat room became the means for hackers to infect sites with a phbb worm. The only way to contact me now is to sign up for my mailing list or discussion board or write me an email. I'm sure someone will find a way to spoil those things, too, but, hey, it's the Internet and you've got to take the good with the bad.

Okay, what else is new? Though not exactly new, the article Coming to Kylie, written for kylie-minogue.com last year, is available in a pdf format for you to read. Many articles that appeared in the past have been converted and are available in pdf format now. The control over formatting is finer and makes for a better reading experience.

Finally, please bear with me through the glitches and the goofs that are bound to rear their annoying heads during this major update. If there is anything I've overlooked from the old site, or if you have a request for new material, feel free to contact me at the email address listed above.
